Summary

The Manager / Senior Manager, Medical Education shall assume planning and execution of medical education programs in Japan throughout the life cycle of Insmed product(s) and therapeutic/disease area(s), which is an integrated part of Japan Medical Affairs Plan (JMAP). In alignment of JMA Misson, Vision, Value Proposition as well as those of the corporate/GK, the individual in this position, under proper supervision, shall work autonomously and collaboratively with local internal and external stakeholders including third-party vendors, healthcare professionals (HCPs) and medical/professional societies. The individual shall keep compliance, quality, speed in mind, and maintain transparency by keeping books and records. This position does not have people management responsibility.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
  • Under supervision, plan and execute medical education programs for external audiences in Japan based on medical education strategy defined in JMAP by collaboratively working with both internal and external stakeholders. The work involves day-to-day operations and administrations relating to the creation and distribution of education associated materials (e.g., survey) using multiple platforms including conventional and digital medias as well as internal/external communication and logistics.
  • Ensure compliant, quality and on-time/on-budget delivery of programs through cross-functional collaboration with both international and local internal stakeholders, e.g., medical, marketing, legal and compliance, etc., and with external partners and vendors.
  • Complete year planning with the supervisor, including reconciling activities for tactical planning/execution, analyzing outcome, providing recommendations for improvements and developing new platforms and means for delivery.
  • Closely work with JMA and other GK teams to build, maintain and further develop strong relationship with Scientific Leaders (SLs) and medical societies to develop medical education programs efficiently and effectively.
Position Requirements :Required experience and knowledge:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with the track record of success in Medical/Scientific Affairs in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company in Japan in a global setting.
  • Track record of success in execution of company-lead medical education. Experience in Independent Medical Education (IME) is a plus.
  • Experience in the development and review of medical/scientific educational materials.
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional team consisting of both medical/scientific experts and operational/administrative professionals.
  • Experience/knowledge and/or demonstrated agility to learn science and medical practice in designated therapeutic areas, diseases, and therapies.
  • Proven record of knowledge and experience in the field of pulmonary, infectious and/or cardiovascular diseases is strongly preferred. Additional experience in rare and/or neglected diseases may be a plus.
Required skills and capabilities:
  • Language: Native-level fluency in Japanese and business fluency in English.
  • Ethics and compliance: Adherence to uncompromising ethical standards. Understanding of applicable local and global laws, regulations, policies and rules as well as compliance policies and requirements of the pharmaceutical industry in Japan.
  • Business acumen: Understanding of pharmaceutical business, including drug research and development, manufacturing, commercialization. Established strategic and logical thinking, and effective analytic skills. Organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness.
  • Communication/Presentation: Ability to quickly understand and dialogue on subjects that are at the interface between medicine and policy. Ability to connect science/medicine and unmet medical need to MA strategy. Excellent in disseminating and communicating complex scientific information and data in an impactful while balanced and user-friendly way. Excellent intra-personal and presentation skills (verbal and written, in Japanese and English) with the ability to effectively present ideas, and influence with others to achieve desired goals.
  • People:Works productively across local organizations as a team player. Ability to influence without authority.
Qualification:
  • Must live in the greater Tokyo areas of Japan.
  • Degree, License: Bachelor’s or higher degree in pharmacology, pharmaceutical, clinical and life science or equivalent field of study is highly preferred. A candidate will be considered with higher priority if the candidate has significant MA experience.
